Monday is election day.
If you have voted already through special ballot or advance polls, thank you.
If you are planning on voting Monday, good job. If you still don’t know where to vote, check out http://www1.gnb.ca/elections/munstreetkey/munskinformation-e.asp.
On Monday, I will helping Greg Ericson’s campaign. I have been involved with Greg’s campaign from the start. I have taken photos of him for his brochures. I have taken photos at campaign events. If you live in Ward 8, please vote for Greg.
This campaign for me has been interesting and going into Monday, I have no idea how many people know me to vote for me. I have tried to make the best use of the resources I had at hand. I have a personal online presence, between my blog, twitter, facebook and my photography site. My fellow candidates have done varying degrees of campaigning. I’ve seen campaign signs for one, Facebook campaigning by two. I suspect in the end it will come down to name recognition at the ballot box. I am hoping that some people have tried researching the candidates.
I have received an unsolicited endorsement from Chris Baker of Continuum Research. Check it out here: https://twitter.com/#!/RookWil/status/200634723196878848. This endorsement was retweeted twice. A lady I know corrected Mr Baker because of a dead handle. I am very appreciative of an endorsement, even with a mispelled name. I am also very appreciative of friends that care enough to make sure others can find me. Thank you Chris, Kirsten, Dave and Cody.
I have been able to write an op-ed piece on why I’am running for the The Purple Violet Press. Read it here: http://thepurplevioletpressnb.blogspot.ca/2012/05/why-i-run-for-regional-health-authority.html. Thank you, Cheryl, for the invitation.
If you read the Daily Gleaner, there is a piece in it about the candidates for RHA. I spoke to the reporter on Monday. Thank you, Adam, for your call. I hope to speak to you on Monday for the follow-up piece.
During this campaign, there was a board meeting of Horizon Health, held in Moncton. I would like to say that I was there. I will give the benefit of the doubt to my fellow candidates, who must lead busy lives. However, the only person who was there, besides me, was the the gentleman who was paid to be there. L. Paul Elliott is currently on the board, so he was there (for most of the meeting). I was looking forward to meeting him, when he left early. I do not know the reason why and chose not speculate.
Being at this meeting gave me the opportunity to meet a couple who are advocating for an Independent Ombudsman for patients who have complaints about service received in health care facilities. I think this is a marvelous idea. Where can patients turn to when things go wrong and they want/need answers. This is something I will continue researching as to feasiblity.
I really hope and pray that I have done enough to make my name known. I want to represent the people of B6 as their board member at Horizon Health. I make a promise that I will be accessible to the people, willing to lesson to their concerns and putting the public good first. I promise that I will keep the public aware of my work on the board and to inform them of the work of the board.
If you live in B6, will you vote for me? Either way, will you like my page on Facebook: http://facebook.com/mullin.doug?
